I THINK this also applies to digital art, but I got the note about Traditional Art.

DeviantART is restructuring the Traditional Art Galleries.  They are really simplifying the categories for Deviations, and they would like some input.

I just got this note from Astralseed regarding the changes and asking that I spread the word!

From Astralseed:

Hi,
the CR team is currently looking at restructuring the galleries so I've gotten together with the other traditional art CVs and we've drawn up some ideas on what restructuring could look like for the traditional art community. I thought since this is something that will affect anyone who submits to the traditional art galleries, it may be something you'd like to help us promote in order to give more traditional artists a voice in what will happen with the category tree. This is our proposal journal fav.me/d5xp8zj

Any help spreading the word would be greatly appreciated!
Our affiliate :iconafricanvalley: is sponsoring a contest! Below are the rules and other information. For the full article and prizes, please visit the original article here: africanvalley.deviantart.com/j…

Endangered Africa
This contest will be run along very similar lines as our African Predator contest, with multiple winners for multiple categories, listed below. For this contest we will be accepting artwork featuring animals that are of vulnerable, endangered or critically endangered status and/or artwork that features the concept of an Endangered Africa. You can find a list of endangered animals in the contest folder. [link] Concept pieces don’t necessarily have to include a listed threatened animal so long as the endangered concept is strong enough.

Submission Rules
You may submit two pieces to the contest. Keep in mind that two pieces of the same animal will simply be in competition with one another, so it is recommended that you submit two very different pieces, preferably ones that fit under two different ‘best’ categories. If you only have artwork of one species that would fit into this contest it is recommended that you pick the better of the two and only submit that piece, to give that piece the best possible chance.

You are allowed to post pieces already submitted to the group, please withdraw said piece from the group and re-submit it to the contest folder. You are not allowed to submit pieces that placed in any of our previous contests.

Important Details
The contest ends 31st of March.
Judging will take place over the first two weeks of April and the winners will be announced as soon as the judging ends and the points have been tallied.
Judges for the contest will consist of #AfricanValley admin and a handful of guest judges that will be confirmed at a later date.
Each person will only be able to win one category.

Winning Categories
Over-All Winner
First Place Photography, First Place Traditional Art, First Place Digital Art
Best Predator, Best Ungulate, Best Primate, Best Bird, Best Other Endangered Species
Most Thought Provoking Piece, Most Original Concept

Winning categories are subject to change anytime before judging starts.

Prizes
If you can offer a prize to our winners in the form of features, subcriptions or points then please comment on this blog
Non super-groups can now post thumbs, so that is no longer an excuse not to feature our winners

We have so many talented members here at Wildlife Artists, and we want to showcase those talents! So, here's what we want from you:

We would like to start publishing blogs on here that list the all of your accomplishments. We want to show you off!
Any time you win a contest (any prize counts!), let us know.
Also, if any of you receive a Daily Deviation (DD), if would be great if you let us know!
If any of you have any other news, even if it's unrelated to deviantART, feel free to tell us, and we'll get you some exposure! Just send a note to me or one of the other admins listed on our homepage.

Now, some of you may have noticed..... we've reached our 1,000th member!!!!!!!!!!!!
We've become a fairly large group since we were founded, and we want to hold a contest to celebrate this milestone. The other admins and I are going to be coming up with ideas for a contest theme, but it you have an idea, let us know by commenting on this journal.

Best wishes,
